Hello Everyone, I have received an email from Alex at Team FTO.
I'm involved in a charity motoring organisation called Club Le Mons and we've been asked by the Biggin Hill Festival of Flight to organize the first ever Roundel Run, to help commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain, the focus of this year's event.
It's on the 13th of June, so we appreciate a lot of petrol heads will be at Le Mans, but for those not going, this might be a nice alternative.
The Roundel Run is part 'run' and part 'car show' - we actually start off at Brooklands, from under Concorde, and then make our way to Biggin Hill Airport, via various Battle of Britain/WW2 locations, such as the McIndoe Centre, to the Festival, where we'll drive by the crowd of 18,000 people (so you can't be shy), before parking up in the arena, where people can come and have a look at the cars, take pictures, etc.
We have some interesting cars already registered, including a whole host of Ferraris (F50, F40, 599, 458, etc.), a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, a Nismo GT-R, a few Porsches (I’m afraid they all look alike to me), and AC Cobra, to mention a few. But naturally we'd love to have some local owners in the group too!
It's open to any model and any year but we're trying to get a mix of cars that will look good together on the road, and parked up.
There is a cost for participating, but that does include the entrance to the event, and if wanted, access to the VIP areas. All the money raised will go to the four charities we're supporting; the RAF Benevolent Fund, the Kent, Surrey, Sussex Air Ambulance, Make a Wish and Brooklands Museum. So it's a bit of fun, some interesting cars, some amazing planes and all for a good cause. The Red Arrows make an appearance, too.
If anyone is interested please could you pass on our website, where they can register.
